Sunescape Spray Tans
Your Glow, Elevated
At Sibu Skin & Beauty Canberra, we believe a tan should look as good as it feels. That’s why we use Sunescape — the award-winning, Australian-made spray tan born on Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach. Formulated with natural DHA, hydrating oils, and antioxidants, Sunescape delivers a streak-free glow that fades evenly, smells amazing, and never leaves your skin orange or dry.

Available exclusively at our Nicholls and Crace salons, every tan is customised by your therapist to suit your skin type, tone, and the occasion you’re preparing for. Whether you want a subtle sun-kissed glow or a bold, bronzed finish, we’ll match you to the perfect shade. With the right before and after care, your Sunescape tan can last up to 7–10 days, fading evenly without patchiness.
Our Tanning Options
Half Body Tan
Perfect when you only need your top half or bottom half tanned — ideal for special outfits or quick touch-ups. Choose either Weekend in Bondi (Light), Week in Fiji Medium, Month in Maui (Dark), and Summer in Santorini (Ultra Dark additional $2) as your shade — your therapist will customise your tan for a natural, streak-free finish.
Full Body Tan
Experience a flawless, natural-looking glow from head to toe. Our most popular option for events, photoshoots, or simply everyday radiance. Choose from Weekend in Bondi (light), Week in Fiji (medium), or Month in Maui (dark). Processing usually takes around 2 hours, with your colour continuing to deepen beautifully over the following hours.
Full Body Ultra Dark Tan — Summer in Santorini
For those who crave a bold, bronzed look, our Summer in Santorini Ultra Dark offers maximum impact while staying natural and even. This ultra-dark shade develops quickly — rinse after just 1 hour, and watch your colour continue to deepen over time.
Before Your Tan
To ensure your tan develops evenly and lasts longer:
Complete all hair removal (waxing/shaving) at least 24 hours before your appointment
Exfoliate thoroughly, paying extra attention to elbows, knees, ankles, and dry areas — we recommend the Sunescape Exfoliating Body Polish or Tan Removal Mitt for best results
Where possible, arrive with clean, product-free skin — no moisturisers, deodorants, perfumes, or makeup
Wear or bring loose, dark clothing and slip-on shoes to avoid marks while your tan develops
We’ll look after any tricky areas (such as elbows, knees, or feet) during your appointment for a smooth, flawless result.
After Your Tan
To extend your glow and keep it looking flawless:
Rinse after the advised time — 1 hour for Ultra Dark (Summer in Santorini), 2 hours for other shades.
*See below for other optionsUse lukewarm water only for your first rinse — avoid soaps, body washes, and shampoos
Gently pat dry with a towel; don’t rub
Moisturise daily with a rich, nourishing cream or gradual tanning extender to lock in hydration and prolong your glow
Avoid long hot showers, spas, pools, and heavy sweating for the first 24 hours
When your tan begins to fade, gently exfoliate to maintain an even finish and ensure a smooth fade-out
For best results, protect your colour with our Sunescape Hydrating Shower Gel, Body Butter, or Gradual Tan Extender — all available in-salon
*Rinse after the advised time — 1 hour for Ultra Dark, 2 hours for all other shades. This is only the first rinse — your tan will continue to develop over the next 6–8 hours for a flawless, natural finish.
You can also leave it on longer (even overnight) for a deeper result, but Sunescape is designed as a rapid rinse tan so you can wash off the bronzer and get on with your day.
Spray Tan FAQs
1. What happens if I shower too soon?
If you rinse before the advised time (1 hour for Ultra Dark, 2 hours for other shades), your tan may stop developing and appear lighter. Always wait the full time recommended by your therapist.
2. Can I leave my tan on longer than 1–2 hours?
Yes. Sunescape is designed as a rapid rinse tan, so you can shower after 1–2 hours and still get full results as your colour develops over 6–8 hours. Leaving it on longer (even overnight) can create a slightly deeper colour.
3. My seatbelt rubbed on the way home — what should I do?
Minor marks often even out after your first rinse. If you notice a line, gently blend with moisturiser, gradual tan, or a tanning mitt. For more noticeable marks, your therapist can fix it with a quick touch-up.
4. What if I get a crease in my tan?
Skin folds, clothing, or lifting your arms can cause creases while your tan develops. Most soften after your first rinse. If one remains, blend gently with moisturiser or gradual tan.
5. Can I wear tight clothes after my tan?
No — avoid tight clothes, bras, or strappy shoes until after your first rinse. These can rub against the tan while it’s developing and cause streaks or marks.
6. What if it’s raining after my appointment?
Rain or water can cause streaks before your tan develops. Bring an umbrella, covered shoes, and clothing that protects your skin from drops until your first rinse.
7. Why do I need to shave or wax 24 hours before?
Freshly shaved or waxed skin leaves pores open, which can cause small dark spots (“strawberry skin”). Doing it 24 hours earlier allows pores to close and skin to calm, giving a smooth, even base.
8. Why can’t I exfoliate on the day of my tan?
Exfoliating on the day can make your skin too fresh and sensitive, leading to uneven absorption. Exfoliate the day before for the perfect smooth canvas.
9. Will I go orange?
No. Sunescape is designed to deliver a natural-looking colour with no orange undertones. Your therapist will also customise the perfect shade for your skin tone.
10. How long will my tan last?
With good aftercare, your Sunescape tan will last 7–10 days. Daily moisturising, gentle showering, and using Sunescape Body Butter or Gradual Tan Extender will help maintain it longer.
11. Can I exercise after my tan?
Avoid sweating, gyms, or hot yoga for the first 24 hours. Sweat during development can cause streaks or patches. After your first rinse, you can return to normal activity.
12. How do I remove my tan when it starts to fade?
When your tan begins to fade, exfoliate gently with the Sunescape Tan Removal Mitt or Exfoliating Body Polish. This ensures an even fade and prepares your skin for your next tan.
